Ronnie Coleman

Eight time Mr. Olympia title winner, Ronnie Coleman (born Ronald Dean Coleman and called Ronnie) sure doesn’t look like a guy who holds an accounting degree, does he? Well there is more to Ronnie Coleman than meets the eye and this multi-talented professional bodybuilder shares the record of eight consecutive Mr. Olympia wins only with Lee Haney.

Ronnie Coleman was born in Louisiana on May 13, 1964, and graced with a great physique and an enjoyment of sports as well. He played college football while studying for his degree in accounting at Grambling State University in Louisiana. Ronnie’s career choice after graduation was that of a police officer but his true destiny still waited and neither the life of an accountant or that of law enforcement officer was what Ronnie Coleman was marked for.

As a police officer Ronnie Coleman was of course interested in physical fitness as an aspect of his job but he took it further than that, and became friends with the owner of the gym who introduced him to competitive bodybuilding.

In 1990, Ronnie Coleman exploded onto the competitive bodybuilding scene by winning the first competition he entered, the title Mr. Texas. His career from that point onward was unstoppable and remarkable.

It is not genetics alone that makes a good competitive bodybuilder such as Ronnie Coleman, the best workout routines in the world and the strictest and best diet will not make a person a champion such as Ronnie Coleman. To be the best requires equal parts of determination and drive as well as a willingness to push them beyond the point that others may give up. Ronnie Coleman has exhibited the determination, drive and force of will that signify the mindset of a true winner.

He currently holds the lifetime record of 26 IFBB wins. In the 2004 Moscow competition, Ronnie Coleman broke the former record of 22 lifetime IFBB wins that was held by Vince Taylor.

Ronnie Coleman has announced that he will compete in the 2010 Mr. Olympia competition which will be held in New Orleans in September 2010. This should provide current competitors and title holders some real pause since few body builders even in prime form can stand up when compared to Ronnie Coleman at his peak. Though his current age 46 may lead some to believe he is not as strong a contender for the title as in earlier years, that patented Ronnie Coleman drive and his will to succeed as well as that exceptional frame could well give them a surprise!

Whoever holds the current and future Mr. Olympia titles, the fact remains Ronnie Coleman’s accomplishments have been phenomenal and he is multi-talented and determined to be the best at any undertaking.
